Makin Deals (And Super Bowl History) Mondays!

Yes – it’s Makin’ Deals Monday here, but how can we not talk about the new Super Bowl Champs, the New Orleans Saints!

I’m not a huge football fan by any stretch of the imagination.

And I couldn’t decide who to route for.

But since the Saints NEVER won a Super Bowl ever, I mean since they NEVER even went to a Super Bowl EVER… I figured why not cheer for the underdog.

(I love underdogs – probably explains why I do what I do helping investors and entrepreneurs).

Anyhow if you watched the game last night, you know that if the odds were poor for the Saints starting off, when they went down 10-0
in the first quarter – they became statistical LOSERS. In past Super Bowls there’s only been ONE team EVER to come back from a 10-0 deficit to win the Super Bowl.

And NOBODY has ever come back from greater than a 10-point deficit.

Now the Saints have a lot of TALENT with Drew Brees, Reggie Bush,

Will Smith and the list goes on and on.

And they have a ton of DRIVE – I mean you don’t pull off a 13-3 season without being driven.

BUT – guess what – all that Talent and all that Drive is NOT enough for them to win – not in last night’s game.

There are plenty of Talented players and plenty of Driven players and there are even plenty of Talented AND Driven players (just like there are plenty of Talented And Driven investors) and most will still NEVER win a Super Bowl (just like most will never make any money or do a deal).

So why are the Saints Super Bowl Champs today, even though they had little less than a prayer of winning?

Not because of Quarterback Drew Brees….

Not because of the incredible Saints Receivers…

His name is Sean Payton.

And he doesn’t even wear a jersey or play on the field.

Sean Payton is COACH of the Saints.

In the second half, Coach Payton, is facing a lot of NEVER’S

> His Saints have NEVER won a Super Bowl

> A team has NEVER come back from greater than a 10-point deficit in a Super Bowl.

That’s when COACH PAYTON strikes back with his own NEVER.

COACH PAYTON starts the Second Half with an “on-sides” kick!!

(For those of you who aren’t big football fans, this is the equivalent of trying to steal home plate in baseball!!)

It’s a totally high risk move that most leaders only pull out when they are totally desperate as a last ditch effort.

But not COACH PAYTON.

As a trained veteran and NHL warrior, he senses the Colts aren’t expecting… he smells the opportunity and he GOES FOR IT!

What happens??

The most exciting and insane play of the game that now has the Saints recorded as NFL Legends and 2010 Super Bowl Champs!

Clearly – they would NOT have done that play and won the Super Bowl…

In fact, they might have been a LOSING TEAM!

Even with all that Talent and Drive!
