So what’s inside of your social media mailbox? Are you getting flooded with a constant flow of buyer and seller leads and the hottest deals? I’m going to explain all the major social media websites, how investors are using them, and what you need to do to get into the social media game.
There are many different social media sites and if we talked about them all we’d be here for a very long time. We’ll start with the most important ones. These are the ones that are going to have the biggest impact on getting you leads and consequently an endless supply of real estate profits.
Let’s start with FaceBook. What is FaceBook? I call it the “godfather” of social media. FaceBook has been battling back and forth with Google for several months as to which is the biggest website on the planet. That tells you how huge FaceBook really is.
FaceBook follows the most complete social media platform. It offers content, friends, network, communication and recommendations, all in one. You absolutely need FaceBook. You need to be using it the right way – not just to meet someone if you’re single. Of course that’s okay, but for a real estate investor there’s a lot more to it. I want to teach you to use it in the most strategic way possible.
Next we’ll look at MySpace. MySpace is geared toward the younger generation. This site is not quite as professional as FaceBook. The users tend to be high school and college age. Between the two, I would advise you to work more with FaceBook.
After MySpace, we’ll look at Twitter. While FaceBook is the most complete platform in social media, Twitter offers only one component. It simply tells “who I am and what I’m doing.” Whether you have ten friends or ten thousand, you can send a “tweet” to someone to alert them. It offers instant communication and is super powerful. It is a viral way of letting people know what’s going on. If you have deals, an investment opportunity, an auction coming up, all can be posted on Twitter.
