President’s Day

Starbuck and I were at the mall last week buying our vitamins (ok, Starbuck wasn’t really buying vitamins, it was just me). Any how, the woman who runs the vitamin shop is in her late 50’s and one of those genuinely resilient individuals.

You know, the kind of person who gets knocked down, shakes herself off and gets right back up.

As I was paying for my vitamins, we started to shoot the breeze like we usually do. The topic of our country and economy came up. (Now the last thing I want to do is talk about the economy – my goodness you will go broke and/or crazy if you obsess on it like all the news channels want you too).

The word of encouragement I want to share with you is about the American spirit.

See, this woman looked at me with widsom beyond my own years and with a complete calm and confidence she said this…

“We Americans will not just lay down. We are a strong people and we will not take this much longer.

We’ve been through times like this in the 70’s and made it out just fine, though nobody seems to remember that now.

Give it a few months. You’ll see. The American people will get back on top. That’s what they always do.”

Immediately my spirits were lifted.

Because it’s the truth.

And I realized this…

I REFUSE to be a part of this problem.

And nobody will dare tell me different.

I will be a part of the solution!
