I Fight For Milk – Part 2 of 2

(Do you even care about Milk? You better. Inside is possibly the SINGLE most
important question you need to answer if you plan to make any money in real estate in 2010)

Yesterday I shared with you the first inspiring real estate lesson from the movie “Cinderella Man”
starring Russell Crowe.

When faced with the challenge of going toe-to-toe in the ring with a known boxing killer, Braddock (Crowe) replies,

“You don’t think people get killed out there everyday on the loading docks or starving down in slums. At least in the ring I know who I’m fighting.”

And in real estate, you take control of your future.

It reminds me of an incredible quote from Dan Kennedy, who is arguably the most successful internet marketer on the planet.

Dan said the defining quality of any entrepreneur is this -

(And listen closely b/c as a real estate investor YES you ARE an entrepreneur)

So Dan said, “To be an entrepreneur you must be an eternal optimist.”

So true!

Whether it was Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Carnegie or Donald Trump they were and are all eternal optimists.

When things looked impossible…

When total failure seemed certain…

They all sat back and DECIDED to think otherwise.

And for that, the bountiful rewards of courage and persistence belong to them.

Why didn’t they give in?

Why didn’t they give up?

(And why shouldn’t you either??)

Back to “Cinderella Man” Jim Braddock…

So Braddock gets his one final shot at the title again and he’s being interviewed in a press conference.

A sports journalists asks him – “You’ve never won the title before. What’s different this time, Jim?”

At first, Braddock gives a technical answer – earlier in his career he was nursing a broken hand injury and a back problem that never fully recovered…

Blah blah blah.

The journalist does buy it. He presses Braddock.

Braddock muscles up and replies.

“This time I know what I’m fighting for.”

“What’s that?”

“I’m fighting for milk.”

DING DING DING!!!

That’s the knockout punch folks.

Maybe it hit me extra hard because I just became a father to a little baby girl.

But man oh man. That hit me.

You can and will make a ton of money in real estate (when you do it the right way).

But it’s got to be about more than just money.

When the odds get stacked against you…

When the mountain seems unclimbable…

When you’re stepping into the ring with a known killer…

You BETTER know

> > > What Are You Fighting For? < < <

This could be the single most important question you ask yourself if you want to make
money in real estate this year.

And you sure as heck better have a great answer!

Because if you don't, when that first deal goes sour...

When your buyer backs out at the last minute...

When your funding falls through and your deal goes belly up...

If you don't know what you're fighting for, you'll just throw the towel in.

"Damian - deals going belly up. Buyers walking away. You are depressing me!"

No, I'm preparing you.

These are not bad things. They are just part of the game.

EVERY real estate investor from Andrew Carnegie to Donald Trump to Robert Kyosaki - they've all been through it before and still go through it today.

It's part of the biz.

To think you're not going to have to face these challenges would be like becoming a professional boxer and then getting upset the first time someone punches you in the head!!

Sure it stings. But you train and you prepare, so you know what you need to do to come out the victor.

For Braddock, it was milk. He faced the killer fearlessly because he knew what he was fighting for.

For me, it was my family and the life I wanted. I hated having a job. I wanted to be fr-ee to spend time with my wife and family and someday my child which I now have.

I was willing to do whatever I had to so I didn't have to dress up in a suit and commute to work 5 days a week for the rest of my life.

And now WHAT ABOUT YOU?

> > > WHAT ARE YOU FIGHTING FOR?

There’s so much more I want to share – and so much more I will next week.

But that question is just so important that I don’t want to leave you with anything else but that.

Find your answer now -

With it – anything possible is 2010.

Best,

PS – Almost forgot. Another true story. This one about me.

My mom loves telling this story about my first “two words”.

Yes, I said “mamma” and “da-da” like all babies. (Actually my first words were “Paul”, my older brother)

But the first “two words” I ever said – can you guess what they were?

“Love you…”

“Love mama…”

“Love da-day…”

“Love Paul…”

Nope. None of these.

My first two words were “I DO.”

Totally true story. I can’t make this stuff up.

Guess I really was born to be an entrepreneur.

Because even back then, even when I didn’t have the experience or ability to do what I wanted –
such as feed myself or dress myself – I was still bent on having it my way. “I DO”.

What about you and your real estate investing plans for 2010…

Are you ready to say “I DO”?

PPS – I think I need to have a t-shirt made, that’s even shorter and snazzier than Nike’s catch phrase :o P
